Food lovers and media personalities gathered in Dainfern Square for the official media launch of ZOR Restaurant a fresh new dining space blending fine dining with a warm, soulful atmosphere. Owner Andile Zulu welcomed guests with gratitude and pride as he shared the inspiration behind the restaurant.
“Once again, welcome to ZOR! It’s such a pleasure to have some of the country’s most talented and passionate food storytellers with us today,” he said. “You don’t just eat food you experience it, you capture it, and you share it in a way that inspires others to explore new flavours and places.”
Zulu explained that the restaurant’s name, ZOR, is inspired by his daughters a personal touch that speaks to love, legacy, and a dream powered by family. He described ZOR as a place where great food and great energy meet, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
“ZOR was born from a simple but powerful idea to create a space where fine dining meets soul, where every plate tells a story, and every note of music adds flavour to the experience,” he said. Guests were treated to a tasting menu that showcased Chef Absalom artistry a fusion of bold local flavours and elegant presentation. From the first bite to the final dessert, each dish reflected the restaurant’s ethos of passion, creativity, and warmth.
Speaking at the event, Chef Absalom shared his excitement about bringing his culinary vision to life at ZOR. He said every dish created there has a heartbeat, aiming to let people taste home, heritage, and heart but in a way that feels elevated and new. Cooking, he added, is storytelling, and at ZOR, every plate tells its own chapter.
The tasting experience was complemented by live music and an inviting ambience that blended sophistication with soul exactly what ZOR stands for. “Today, we invite you to taste, capture, and share the ZOR experience with the world because what’s good food if it’s not shared” Zulu added. “I hope every bite today tells you exactly what ZOR stands for passion, creativity, and heart.”
