Township culture is once again in the spotlight as Skipper Bar brings back its Kasi Kulture campaign, celebrating the creativity, resilience and everyday stories that shape life in South Africa’s townships.
Launched in Johannesburg on 19 March 2026, the second edition of Kasi Kulture builds on last year’s success, promising a bigger and more vibrant showcase of township life. Known as Kasi Kulture 2.0, the campaign highlights everything from street fashion and local music to the entrepreneurial spirit that defines kasi communities.
This year’s campaign features popular South African artists Kid X, Masterpiece YVK and Umtanakubo, who have become synonymous with the sound and influence of township culture. Through their involvement, the campaign aims to amplify voices that already shape trends across the country.
At its core, Kasi Kulture is about storytelling. Through digital platforms and cultural conversations, South Africans are invited to share their own experiences from how they dress and hustle to the pride they carry for their communities.
“Township culture has always been one of the biggest drivers of trends in South Africa,” said Skipper Bar brand manager Tevin Sebela. “With Kasi Kulture, we want to celebrate that authenticity and show love to the communities that continue to inspire music, fashion and lifestyle across the country.”
For many, the kasi is more than just a place. It is a space where creativity is born, where survival meets innovation, and where identity is constantly shaped and redefined.
With the return of Kasi Kulture, Skipper Bar is once again placing township stories at the centre celebrating the people, pride and culture that continue to influence South Africa’s social and creative landscape. South Africans are also encouraged to join the conversation online using the hashtag #SkipperBarKasiKulture2.
