The Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation (KMF) is committed to empowering South Africa’s youth with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy. Through the KMF Digital Skills Centre, we deliver high-impact, accessible education programmes to learners from public schools — many from underserved communities.
Our Saturday programmes cover vital areas such as Robotics, Multimedia Podcasting, Game Development, and Drone Flying, blending classroom theory with real-world application. These programmes cultivate digital literacy, creativity, and critical problem-solving skills essential for tomorrow’s workforce.
KMF’s work extends beyond the digital realm. We also implement agriculture education programmes, providing greenhouse tunnels and school nutrition support, while offering accredited training in Agricultural Skills and Food Security in partnership with The Manger Care Centre.
Looking ahead, KMF is launching a groundbreaking Renewable Energy Training Programme for NEET youth (Not in Employment, Education or Training), equipping them with the skills necessary for careers in solar and wind energy—crucial sectors for South Africa’s sustainable future.
Our achievements have been recognised internationally, with the United Nations Secretary-General’s 2023 report highlighting KMF’s Digital Skills Programme as a model for youth empowerment in Africa.
We are currently seeking partners and supporters to help us:
- Construct a permanent Digital Skills Centre
- Expand digital and renewable energy training opportunities
- Offer scholarships for learners
- Procure state-of-the-art educational equipment
“When you invest in KMF, you invest in South Africa’s future—one learner, one skill, and one dream at a time.”
Join us. Together, we can close the digital divide and build a generation of innovators, leaders, and changemakers.
